Annual Writing Contest

 Grades K-8


The Newport News Reading Council  offered  all students in the Newport News, York and Poquoson schools the opportunity to enter an original piece of writing for this contest. This piece was not  a writing assignment from school. The entry was of any genre. 

The reception for the winners and their teachers was April 29 at the Newport News Library on Main Street.  Local author Elizabeth Fletcher spoke and signed her books.

The winning entries are published in The Young Writers' Journal.  The winners are:
